Community Stories Research
We are launching a new community research project to collect the stories of Balsall Heath residents about life during the coronavirus crisis
We are looking for local people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life to take part in an interview sharing your experiences of living through the current coronavirus crisis, along with stories from your past. We’re interested in hearing whatever you’d like to share from your own lived experience, from the every-day to the extraordinary.
This collection of stories will act as stimulus for The GAP’s young artists to create thoughtful new artworks that reflect upon the lives lived by our community’s members and our collective experiences during this unprecedented moment in history. These artworks – whether theatre, illustration or spoken word – will be produced for community audiences and publicly shared at The GAP as part of our Arts Council funded project 2020 VISION: Towards a Culture of Theatre and Story in Balsall Heath.
How will you collect my story?
After receiving your expression of interest, one of our community researchers will be in touch for an initial chat, to explain the project in more detail and answer any of your questions. If you’d like to go ahead with the interview, we will arrange a time, date and format that best suits your needs and read through a consent form together.
During the interview, our community researchers will allow you space to talk at length about your experiences and memories by guiding conversation through a series of open questions. We’ll record the audio, write up summaries and add these to our community research collection where it may be used as artistic stimulus.
Interested in sharing your story, or know of someone who might be? Got any questions?
