Coronavirus/COVID-19 Update – posted Tuesday 17th March 2020
Like many arts organisations and cultural venues across the country, The GAP Arts Project is acutely mindful of the fast-changing conditions around the coronavirus pandemic. We are following Public Health England advice, Arts Council England guidance, and best available scientific information to ensure the best provision for our community’s needs under the safest possible conditions.
We are therefore continuing to operate The GAP Arts Project business as usual at the moment, although the team will be working largely from home.
The MIX Community Café, which supports our charity, remains open as usual for the time being – with the exception of Thursday evening socials - with increased vigilance re hygiene and safeguarding practices. However, we will be restricting numbers in the café to no more than twenty, including staff, and spacing tables accordingly to comply with the government request for social distancing. We will also be taking orders at tables to reduce contact with the counter and kitchen area.
Whilst we continue to have a warm welcome for everyone, and acknowledge the importance of public spaces at times of extreme and widespread isolation, can we politely appeal to café customers that they respectfully follow any additional hygiene measures that may be introduced for visitors to the space. Moreover, we ask you please to NOT attend if you have ANY of the symptoms similar to those of the coronavirus - however mild - or have been in contact with anyone who has.
Further information: Please check our website, and/or follow us on social media, for updates on opening times, events, cancellations and (eventually) details of opportunities for online projects and participation.
In the meantime stay safe,
The GAP Team

Also note, we are currently working hard to redesign some of our arts and cultural projects for delivery online in the event of closure becoming necessary or enforced. We hope to be able to maintain contact with many young people and community members in this way, and look forward to the possibility of working with you over the airwaves over the coming period.
