SHADOWS by Oliver Hassell
Exhibition
Thursday 23rd January - Thursday 6th February 2020
SHADOWS is the two-week, debut solo exhibition by Birmingham-based artist Oliver Hassell opening at The GAP Arts Project in January 2020.
Featuring a series of paintings, drawings, digital art, 3D art and textile pieces, this exhibition explores the concept of ‘The Shadow Self’: the side of the unconscious mind containing parts of yourself that you would rather not acknowledge, and how the denial of the shadow can lead to psychological and emotional consequences.
Distinguished by irresistible dark humour and instant relatability, Hassell’s visual art probes contemporary themes including mental health, relationships and social media, and how our inner selves navigate modern society.
The launch night will include a Q&A with the artist, as well as refreshments, music and exclusive merchandise.
Launch Night: 23rd January, 6:30pm - 9:00pm
