Creativity is the Key!

Balsall Heath Community Film Call-Out

In this long, lonely lockdown mired in misinformation and confusion, one thing at least has become crystal clear - that genuine CREATIVITY is more than a minority hobby, is not the sole preserve of primary school lessons, nor the entitlement of the privileged classes. No.

CREATIVITY is an innate, human drive in every single one of us to effect change.

In our locked down worlds, CREATIVITY has emerged as a key means through which everyone can contribute to making ourselves, our communities and the world better.

Whether you’ve been planting herbs, sewing scrubs, finding ingenious new ways to recycle tin cans or worked out how to teach drums on Zoom; whether you’ve been reading stories remotely or baking without flour; whether you’ve been a dinosaur for a day with your kids or put on a puppet show for mum and dad; whether you’ve been painting portraits, ceilings or rainbows; whether you’ve written hiakus, crocheted coasters or made memes; or been lapping your living room, perfecting your pliés or mending that broken toaster – whatever it is, however small or big, you’ve been making a change for the better.

The GAP invites YOU – everyone – to celebrate our community’s new-found CREATIVITY and the changes we have all effected. We’re creating a short film montage that is a true and joyful celebration of all the wealth and variety of Balsall Heath’s creativity under lockdown, and we want as many people as possible to feature in it.

Please send your video clips in to Simple mobile phone footage is absolutely fine.

Please include your name and postcode, the names of those who appear in the footage, and any other information about the activity you want us to know. If you can’t video please send in photographs. Your submissions will be taken as your consent – and the consent of all those featured - for us to include your clips/stills in the new film which will be shared publicly.
