Suspect Communities
May - June 2017
We are currently partnering with the University of Birmingham's Department of History on its research project into the impact of the 1974 Birmingham Pub Bombings on the local Irish community.
In the aftermath of the bombings and the momentous events that followed the Irish population of the city became what Prof. Gavin Schaffer of UoB terms 'a suspect community'.
Through drama we will run workshops that consider how this community was, and continues to be, affected and who the 'suspect communities' of today are. What is the long-term legacy for the city of the growth of collective suspicion about significant sections of our population?
If you are aged 16 - 25 years old there are opportunities to participate in the workshops.
Times & Dates: 10am - 4pm, 6th 13th 20th & 27th May (all Saturdays)
Cost: Free - but please be available to attend all four workshops
Drama experience not necessary
